Terms of Service.

What Ness is, what it does not promise, and what we ask of you in return.

Effective October 15, 2026

The short version

Ness helps you cook from what you already have. It is free, it is in beta, and it can be wrong. Nutrition figures are estimates and recipes are suggestions — neither is medical or dietary advice, and neither replaces reading the label on the food in front of you. Use your own judgement, especially about allergies. Everything below says that more carefully.

Using Ness

By creating an account or using Ness you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old to have an account or to use Ness. Ness is not directed at anyone under 18.

Who runs Ness

Ness is made and run by Neal Abraham and Ebby Thaliath Bejoy, two individuals, not a company. “We” and “us” below mean the two of them. There is no support desk behind it — questions, complaints and legal notices all reach the same inbox at nessapp.help@gmail.com, and are answered when time allows.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at nessapp.help@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into it.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting it removes your pantry, meal logs, saved recipes and lists — see the Privacy Policy for what that covers.

Nutrition, recipes and your health

Ness does not give medical, dietary or nutritional advice. Calorie and macro figures come from public food databases and from recipe sources, and they are estimates. Serving sizes vary, products get reformulated, and databases carry mistakes. Do not rely on Ness for anything where being wrong would matter to your health.

Check ingredients yourself if you have an allergy or intolerance. Recipes are suggested by software, including AI, and dietary filters such as “vegan” or “gluten-free” come from third-party data that can be incomplete or wrong. A recipe that Ness labels as free of something may still contain it. Read the packaging and the original recipe before you cook or eat.

If you are managing a medical condition, pregnant, or following a diet on professional advice, talk to a qualified professional rather than to an app.

Recipes come from other people

Most recipes in Ness are found through third-party services and belong to the sites that published them. We link to the original source and credit it by name. Those recipes are theirs, not ours, and your use of them is subject to the terms of the site they came from.

Recipes written by AI inside Ness are generated for you on the spot. They have not been tested by a cook, and nobody has checked that they work.

What you put in

The pantry items, meals, notes and recipes you enter stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them for the single purpose of running the service for you — showing your tracker, searching for recipes, and syncing between your devices. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

Do not upload anything unlawful, anything that infringes somebody else’s rights, or anything you would not want stored on a server.

Fair use

Ness pays per request to the services behind it, so there are daily limits on recipe generation, imports and barcode lookups. Please do not try to get around them, script the app, scrape it, resell access to it, or take it apart to rebuild it elsewhere.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used that way, or in a way that risks the service for everyone else.

It is free, and it is beta

Ness costs nothing to use today. It is also unfinished: features change, break and sometimes disappear. We may change or withdraw any part of it, and we may stop offering the service altogether. If we ever start charging, you will be told before it applies to you, and you will be able to stop using it instead.

We do not promise that Ness will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors, and we do not promise that data you keep here is backed up. Keep your own copy of anything you would hate to lose.

No warranty

Ness is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Neal Abraham and Ebby Thaliath Bejoy are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost data, or for anything arising out of your use of — or inability to use — the service. Because Ness is free, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for it, which is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending it

You can stop using Ness and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end your access if these terms are broken, or if we stop running the service. The sections about nutrition, warranty and liability survive your account being closed.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Ness changes. The effective date above moves when we do. If a change matters, we will say so in the app or by email rather than quietly editing this page.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, and any dispute will be handled by the courts there. If you are a consumer somewhere with stronger protections, you keep those.
